ボスムトゥイ・クレーターは、アシャンティ県(Ashanti Province)クマシ(Kumasi)の近くにある。クレーターの縁の直径は10.5 kmで、中央部は直径8 kmの湖になっている。水深は80 mである。
隣国コートジボワールで発見されたテクタイトは、形成年代と化学組成から、ボスムトゥイ・クレーターの形成時に飛び散ったものと思われる。
Koeberlらは、1997年1月と1999年1月に現地調査を行った。Koeberl et al. (1999)は形成年代を1.07 Maとした。
