モンターニェ・クレーターは、ノヴァ・スコシア沖の海底に形成されている。直径は45 kmである。
このクレーターは、1975年に火山地形として注目されたが、1987年にボーリング・コアから衝撃変成作用が確認され、クレーターのカタログに追加された(Jansa and Pe‐Piper, 1987)。
Bottomley and York (1988)は、インパクト・メルトのAr‐Ar年代を測定し、51 Maという値を得ている。
